POSITION: Telecommunication (FULL TIME)
Applicant must perform dispatch activities by entering data into the computer aid dispatch system (CAD) with limited to NO errors. Have related clerical duties including record keeping, filing, and data entry. Must deal with the general public in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Must have reading and verbal skills necessary to communicate over radio, phone systems and written skills. Must have the ability to work under pressure, exercise good judgment in emergency situations and multi-task. Receive emergency calls from the public and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel. Respond to request from emergency response personnel. Receives, evaluates, prioritizes and initiates response to request for information and service. Accesses, retrieves, disseminates, and protects confidential law enforcement related data from a variety of protected local, state and federal databases. Enters critical and confidential law enforcement data into TCIC and NCIC databases as well as perform related duties. Continuously study and retain information. Assists with the maintenance of the communications center and report regularly for work on time. Perform other duties as required. Must be able to work will all persons and officials with a professional demeanor. Must be available to work various day and night shifts, including weekends, holidays and mandatory overtime outside normal work schedule hours.
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
Have NEVER been convicted, plead guilty (nolo contendere), nor have been on court-ordered community service/probation or deferred adjudication for a Class A misdemeanor or a felony.
During the last ten (10) years, have not been convicted, plead guilty (nolo contendere), been on community service/probation or deferred adjudication for a Class B misdemeanor in this state, other state, or while serving in the military.
Must have favorable employment history.
Must have a stable credit history.
Must possess good computer skills and demonstrate comprehensive reading and comprehension skills.
Must pass a personal background investigation, medical, physical, drug screen and oral interview before hired.
No experience necessary, will train.
Must acquire Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System certification and Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Telecommunicator License, within the first year of hire.
